About the School

Founded in 1908, James Madison University, or JMU, is a public university. Located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, its 721-acre urban campus is about 125 miles southwest of Washington D.C. Enrollment is approximately 20,000 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students. JMU is in the Colonial Athletic Association in the NCAA Division 1. There are also club and intramural sports on campus. Around 20% of students participate in “Greek Life” across 31 fraternities and sororities. JMU has a Catholic Campus Ministry and a FOCUS ministry.
