Founded in 1789, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, or UNC Chapel Hill, is a public research university. Located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, UNC’s 729-acre campus is about 30 miles northwest of Raleigh. Enrollment is approximately 20,000 undergraduate and 9,000 graduate students. UNC has an acceptance rate of less than 25%. UNC Chapel Hill is in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in the NCAA Division 1. There are also club and intramural sports on campus. Around 20% of students participate in “Greek Life” across 51 fraternities and sororities. UNC Chapel Hill has a Newman Center.
