About the School
Founded in 1872, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, commonly known as Virigina Tech, is a public research university with an endowment over $1 billion. Located in Blacksburg, Virginia, its 2,600-acre rural campus is about 200 miles west of Richmond. Enrollment is approximately 29,000 undergraduate and 6,000 graduate students. Virginia Tech is in the Atlantic 10 Conference in the NCAA Division 1. There are also club and intramural sports on campus. Around 19% of students participate in “Greek Life” across 50 fraternities and sororities. Virginia Tech has a Catholic Campus Ministry, Thomistic Institute chapter, and FOCUS ministry.
